Blanket photos
July 8, 2008
I helped with a group project recently (I mentioned the square here I think), that was in the works since January, and only found out this month it was all a lie. I mean, who this group blanket was for was a lie. It was for a baby due in the spring, MY baby. We just adore the blanket, I can’t even express how much. I’ll have to post photos soon, they are still in the camera at the moment.
I’m working on a baby kimono for a little girl due in ? September I think… It is turning out really cute.
I’m also working on a bunny blankie buddy or whatever it’s called, I just have to knit the ears. And add a face. I needed something ’summer’ for a baby due SOON. I am also going to knit a cotton nb hat for him.
Obviously I’m in gift-knitting mode because thats all that is In Progress at the moment. There is plenty OTN that I have "hibernating" I really really need to pull out moms shawl and get to work on it, her birthday is October and that is a good goal for finishing you think???

T visited the SIsters Of The WOol for the first time out-of-womb tonight. I wanted to see The Blanket in person, and just needed to get out in general. He slept in the sling until I made himwake up to nurse before we left, and I knit on A’s tank top. I’m about to change colors again so it’s going well. I’m not even sure how much more I have to knit before I am done… should measure soon adn see where we’re at.
I need to order some yarn for baby gifts I need to get knit. A’s tank is #1 priority and then baby gifts.

Today
Made a mistake on the July 4th tank last night (because I shouldn’t do anything non-mindless at knit night) and am going back to fix it.
Starting the booties again, on size 2 as the one I knit on a size 1 is tiny. CUTE but tiny. Also found out via ravelry there is an "in the round" adaption for anyone who doesn’t want to do the seaming up, won’t be using this myself, but linking it anyway - http://fleeglesblog.blogspot.com/2007/12/sartjees-fleeglized-bootie.html Changes I will definitely be making - not dealing with the longtail cast on. Found a better solution (and I think it looks cuter too) via ravelry.
Knit night was overwhelming for me, so many people … and I am just so sore all the time these days. From Friday we have 3-6 weeks till baby will likely be here.

dyin’ yarn
I can’t write the good stuff up as well as others can, so it is a good thing my latest yarny activities were with the Sisters. On Saturday we dyed yarn, jeanette and sterling. I only did one skein of Jeanette. Links to others blogs at the end of this so you can get an idea of what all we did. And I’ll post a photo of mine later, I used blue & yellow wanting a spring-y colorway. It is really pretty, reminds me of the blue sky, bright yellow sun, and freshly growing grass. Just what I wanted. I totally had spring on my mind Saturday morning.
Then? At our regular Tuesday Knit Night we had the ladies from Brooks Farms out to where we meet at. And wow. Thats about all I can say. I walked in, a little late as the traffic was crazy and my husband had a hard time getting home, and there were baskets of yarn set up on the tables in "Our corner" Everyone was either going through it or sitting and knitting with their choices beside them ready to purchase. I had purposely gone with no money, no cash, so I couldn’t spend any. But of course, they were ready to take credit cards. Figures, right? So I ended up with one skein of acero which will be turned into a simple shawl for my mother. I’ll post a photo of that later too.
My socks are coming along, i am just working my way down the foot. I knit a baby bonnet this weekend that i’m thinking is like, preemie sized. I might take it to church and try it on a new baby girl (she is around a month old) this weekend. haha. I didn’t use a pattern for it but I jotted down what I did so I could do another one, and I will make it a little bigger. One of the very first things I tried to knit, before I knew what gauge was and even before I was purling properly, was a baby bonnet. I probably still have that around somewhere!
Julia’s post about dye day be sure to click to the additional photos by knittx on that page too!
One last link for you, here are photos that Bookgrump took of the brooks farm visit. Yarn!!

Knit Night
I didn’t get much knitting in tonight, as A was ALL OVER THE PLACE. I think it’s about time for her to stay with daddy every week, and knitting to be just for me! I did, however, go back today and redo what I was unhappy with on the dress. I am much happier now. and I’m reknitting what I ripped out!
Can’t find my notes but I should be able to do the math again/count stitches on the skirt. right?! right! I should be done with the dress prettttty soon. So exciting.

This Week
I am very much looking forward to knit night, but I say that every week, yes? Tommorow we are going to a brand new bookstore. I was in there with the boys on Friday, and am looking forward to seeing it without my little Ninja running around.
This weekend I mainly knit on the dress. I started shaping for the top, armholes. But the way I cast off makes it look not so pretty in two spots, so I’m planning on going back and trying something else. I should have tried something else right away, I know. But oh well. I am writing this out as I go, and hoping it works. We’ll see. I must must must must must find my notes from the skirt decreases. My husband hasn’t taken the trash from in here out yet, it is very possible the paper made its way in there off the desk. Not by me. Thats all i’m saying.
As I mentioned in this weeks committment to loveliness I plan to at the very least cast on for the socks this week. I had a good hour and a half of quiet this morning, but didn’t feel like knitting.
Another thing i’m working on slowly is yet-another-baby-kimono, knit with cotton tots. I am about 3" up the back right now. I didn’t do anything on it this weekend, it is quiet boring garter stitch vs. the dress with the shaping, and the dres? I get to see on my very own daughter, right away when it is done. Too cool.

Special knit time with the Sisters today. <3. We will miss you, one who is moving away ! As long as you come visit and stay on the list it’ll be okay. I guess. . . maybe. A tiny bit
I am STILL working on that hat, I have about 3 inches knit, i’m going to 6 before decreasing. I’ll get there, it just feels like it’s taking ages. I am going to start a baby hat with earflaps on my other needles. And I have started fingerless wrist warmer things on my DPNs.
I love size 8 needles. lovelovelove.

general update
#1 knit night rocks. i may be the quietest in the group, but i just love the women i knit with. i can’t wait for them to see ari walking this tuesday - i may even have a couple of the boys with me this tuesday for a bit, because i think cubscouts starts up again.
#2 i finished conor’s sweater! it looks great. pictures soon. and it’ll be in the mail soon too!
#3 i also finished up a gift for my friends brand new baby girl, born thursday. shes a doll, i can’t wait to meet her. i knit a little skirt for her, but i don’t know if it will work size wise. i really want to figure out how to knit it again and size it properly this time because it is very cute.
#4 so thats two things off the needles. i’m still working on that dishcloth, its very much a busy work thing, i don’t do much on it or very often, just taking my time.
#5 whats next? well. hats. for the four children. i have knit picks main line blueberry for the boys and antique rose for aaralyn. no pattern, as is usual for me with hats. i guess its kinda a pattern - in my head
and i may also start the little poncho for aaralyn.

A little of this and that
Tonight I went to knit night without the baby for the first time since she was born. She will be ten months on Sunday. It was sooo nice to be able to just sit and knit, no getting up, no worrying about what she was doing. I think now that she is so mobile taking her to that particular starbucks isn’t going to be so easy, the other one is larger and I can let her on the floor in the center of our circle.
Tonight I knit on my nephews sweater, it is coming along. My plan is to have it done by next Tuesday to show off, and in the mail the next day. I said that last week though, so hey someone bug me about this ! Tommorow I’ll be spending time with a friend who also knits, and we always end up knitting together, so I’ll likely work on it then !
There is something new in my "projects to knit" bookmarks. It is the kiddie capelet on knittingforboozehags.com freebirds section. SO cute, and takes just 3 skeins of the S&C yarn (99 cents at hobby lobby this week!)
My latest fun knit for when I need a short break from whatever my next project is - this is what I was referring to that I attempted to start in the middle of the night last week, I ended up pulling that out and starting over the next day and it went MUCH better. It is a fun and easy knit. The red and white is for my kitchen, but I am wanting to do some for the boys bathroom next in different blues with matching towels (check out the knit-a-long if you haven’t seen the matching towels!)
I am just about done with the gift for my friend’s daughter, just waiting on her to be born now ! I have a bit of yarn left, and am considering doing one more thing to go with the rest of the gift. We’ll see if I have time and if I can figure out exactly how to do what i’m thinking.
And tonight I received yarn I bought with my birthday money! Yeah! It is Knit picks Main line in antique rose and blueberry. It was purchased with the thought of "this will make perfect hats for the kids!" in mind. That is something they ask for but I had not yet found just the right yarn. So i’ll have to get started on those, luckily this is TX and we likely won’t need them until, oh, December or maybe not even until January!
