Safe birth kits sound like a really wonderful idea. I think everyone pretty much knows how I feel about birth. And babies. And how much I love baby hats - I’ll have to find some old shirts to try the sewing pattern, but I’ll probably knit one too.
Around here lately - Toby is Growing, and I knit myself some fingerless mitts for Nano.
Tonight I went to knit night without the baby for the first time since she was born. She will be ten months on Sunday. It was sooo nice to be able to just sit and knit, no getting up, no worrying about what she was doing. I think now that she is so mobile taking her to that particular starbucks isn’t going to be so easy, the other one is larger and I can let her on the floor in the center of our circle.
Tonight I knit on my nephews sweater, it is coming along. My plan is to have it done by next Tuesday to show off, and in the mail the next day. I said that last week though, so hey someone bug me about this ! Tommorow I’ll be spending time with a friend who also knits, and we always end up knitting together, so I’ll likely work on it then !
There is something new in my "projects to knit" bookmarks. It is the kiddie capelet on knittingforboozehags.com freebirds section. SO cute, and takes just 3 skeins of the S&C yarn (99 cents at hobby lobby this week!)
My latest fun knit for when I need a short break from whatever my next project is - this is what I was referring to that I attempted to start in the middle of the night last week, I ended up pulling that out and starting over the next day and it went MUCH better. It is a fun and easy knit. The red and white is for my kitchen, but I am wanting to do some for the boys bathroom next in different blues with matching towels (check out the knit-a-long if you haven’t seen the matching towels!)

I am just about done with the gift for my friend’s daughter, just waiting on her to be born now ! I have a bit of yarn left, and am considering doing one more thing to go with the rest of the gift. We’ll see if I have time and if I can figure out exactly how to do what i’m thinking.
And tonight I received yarn I bought with my birthday money! Yeah! It is Knit picks Main line in antique rose and blueberry. It was purchased with the thought of "this will make perfect hats for the kids!" in mind. That is something they ask for but I had not yet found just the right yarn. So i’ll have to get started on those, luckily this is TX and we likely won’t need them until, oh, December or maybe not even until January!
Obligatory photo of yarn -
I am almost done with the left side of the heartbreakingly cute baby kimono … well, the pattern started off as that. But. I seem to have trouble sticking to patterns once I’ve knit them the "right" way once. I make a modification here and there, thus creating something different. In this case I liked how easy it was to knit up, but wanted a different look for the front. When I finish the right side (which should NOT take me as long as the left has) I will post photos.
Tonight I’ve been reading the Mason Dixon Knit-a-long blog. What fun to see everyone’s creations and changes to the patterns !
I also peeked at the One Skein knit-a-long blog (google it, i’m being lazy) and am trying to decide if I should get this book or not.
Back to knitting, if I finish this side of the sweater tonight I can start the other side tommorow. It is a laundry day so we are staying home all day, plenty of time to knit in beetween loads moving around !
I have things I want to do on the blog but haven’t gotten around to yet, haven’t been knitting a ton either. I won’t make knit night tonight, or for the next few weeks, uhoh. I do my best knitting at knit night because thats what its for! But I thought I would come talk about the new Knitty, and what I want to knit out of it. The wings are really cute. I want to knit some knucks. Possibly fetching., as a gift. Possibly lacanau, as a gift. Tulip Toes as a gift (CUTE!!!) and the lillies. neat.
I think. I am going to go get Conor’s sweater and try to finish the left side. I am so close to being done if I would just sit and work on it, then I’ll do the right side. Then I can do the finishing stuff (weave in ends, block, seam it up, buttons) and pop it in the mail. Anyone know when it gets cold up North?
I’m happy to tell YOU about the new one, coming soon to a domain near you . . ha. Go check out what it’s all about, and see if you can contribute! http://www.katwithak.com/archives/cat_yarn_life.html
