Knit-a-versary [on the needles, Up next, Finally Finished] — Aishy @ 3:50 am

My Knit a versary is February, 7 years in 2009! This also means Katie and I met 7 years ago! Our blogs were right next to one another in the original knit blog ring. We’ve both moved on since then, and are at different addys and I don’t think she is in the blogring anymore??? I know I’m not. haha.

Let’s see what else. OTN - scarf for my brother, chunky baby sweater, and all the old UFOs ;)   Just finished - The Beer sweater (w/ a modified neck so it would work for cans) & calorimetry. Up next - matchy opposites like soakers & matchy opposites like pilot caps for my best friends twins, who are due in March!

Got to TWO knit nights this week, then skipped a diaper shower tonight because it was just TOO much, really. I am going to get in touch with the mom and offer a meal (for freezer or fresh when baby comes) and probably bring diapers then too. Maybe a knit cap? Not sure where my size 8 16" circs are at. . .

Safe birth kits sound like a really wonderful idea. I think everyone pretty much knows how I feel about birth. And babies. And how much I love baby hats - I’ll have to find some old shirts to try the sewing pattern, but I’ll probably knit one too.

Around here lately - Toby is Growing, and I knit myself some fingerless mitts for Nano.

[on the needles, Finally Finished, about those little people...] — Aishy @ 6:53 am

Toby recieved a knit-gift from Katie a couple of weeks ago. He is mostly wearing onsies these days, with the outside temps being in the 90’s, but indoors at cooler places it’s nice to have a blanket to wrap him up in. Thanks Katie!

In my own knitting news, I’m working on a gift for a friends baby, with another one planned to start soon (as I get the yarn from moms house - ha! I will probably see Jeri again before I get to moms again, I forgot about it when I was there Thursday dropping off/picking up the kids!) And I just finished Aaralyn’s July 4th top (ignore the folded laundry on the bed)

[on the needles, Finally Finished] — Aishy @ 3:47 pm

I want to cast on and start Aaralyn’s tank top. I just don’t know which of the three colors I should start with . . . any suggestions. ? Yup I over think things :P It is official. Red white & blue. stripes. is the plan. I don’t know how big the stripes will be, I think I’ll just change colors whenever as I go up and make em different sizes - that way I don’t have to think about how many rows I’ve knit, or go back and count. I’ll be knitting in the round up to the neck/shoulders, much like I did with her dress I knit last year. This will just have a lower cast on :P

I finished a hat for Tob’s at knit night. And I started the "short and sassy shawl" for myself the other night, I want to knit it long enough to tie around my hips for belly dance class when I go back next summer (i’m thinking when T is around 1 i’ll pick that up again). Uhm. what else. I found the instructions I lost last week so I’m going to do finishing on the Easter presents, really, it’s about time. The thing is, once the deadline passes if you aren’t done it’s easier to let it go. I do need one more thing, the poly whatever pellets for the body of the horse, I knew I had forgotten something. I have the felt and embroidery thread though.

I made myself put on the socks last night and wear them for a bit. Not too bad. I haven’t tried them with shoes yet though. I am just. SO particular about how things feel on my feet.  and I don’t get the joy of socks other people have. I dunno. . . I will be knitting a second pair with the Lorna’s Laces I bought, I just don’t know when i’m going to do it. I need to get another set of needles, because i’m not knitting with that bent one again.

knit night was q u i e t this past week, next week might be more fun ??? i wanted to go buy a book today, no car. boo.

Socks are tough to photograph! [Up next, Finally Finished] — Aishy @ 8:10 am

I wanted to share all three of the photos I decided to share, but flickr isn’t letting me upload tongiht, so I will just share the one that I put on photo bucket & be done. I need to sleep anyway. . .

I like them, I can only wear one of them on my right foot - it feels funny on my left toes. I didn’t have any issues with the kitchener but I’m not sure it’s as good as it could be, it can only get better though right? I am planning on a toe-up sock next, but I’m not sure what pattern I will use.

Next planned projects - another hat for toby using a chart from that book I got for Christmas (reason : to learn to read charts), the dice bag for my husband (yarn swatched - chose lion suede - must figure out the math part now), and toys for the kids (started A’s horse - felted pattern  from crafty alien - need to dig out the yarn for L & K’s dragons (norberta from knitty) and figure out what to knit Jer) . Uhm. Must finish moms shawl by October (that sounds funny to you, but are you having a baby in May? Nope. I am. So really add in the newborn time and see how much knitting time I have left … and let’s not forget that I’m homeschooling a visual-spatial/right brained learner who is a spirited child. Ouch. challenges. Knitting calms me, love the knitting).

[Finally Finished] — Aishy @ 7:54 pm

I haven’t ever knit a ribbed hat before, and this was my second adult sized hat. I love it, absolutely love it. It feels good/not itchy, and it looks nice. If I do the pattern again (likely) I will convert it to ‘in the round’ though.

Here is a photo : dadsht

I’m working on a scarfto go with, as well as one to go with moms hat.

updates [on the needles, Finally Finished] — Aishy @ 1:58 am

not much. i finished & gifted one gnome & hat. lost the other hat - maybe it is at my in-laws ? i’ll go by sometime tommorow and check. i need to sew up the other gnome & mail it off, along with the lost hat! and i do not have enough of the yarn to knit another hat, so i must find it.

i’m working on the socks. slowly slowly says the little turtle. i will win the race. what race ? i hope i wear them, considering all the work that is going into them - and the other sock yarn i’ve purchased. cause so far i put them on and they feel weird.  i’m REALLY picky about socks feeling just so. eek. maybe i’ll get toe help to make sure i have a good well fitting toe. the Sow’s are always good for a little assistance.

I am finally almost done with aaralyn’s headband. then i’ll post pictures & the pattern. ta da. They are matchy, hers and mine. I love having a daughter.
