Sometimes I think God throws a lot of challenges at you at once to make sure you are still paying attention.
And at these times, I am grateful for my knitting. And my husband. And prayer.
I’m going to retreat into my socks for awhile, and maybe start a BSS. I don’t post often so I doubt you would have missed me, but I thought I would post that I likely won’t post in the next couple of weeks anyway. School starts the week of August 20th so there is plenty to do to get ready for that. J was accepted to the school we applied at. He is excited and said ‘three weeks is too long’

I’m having fun knitting my socks, and no matter what I feel about sock knitting I will knit three pairs. This one - the BFF Sock by Cokie A. A pair of toe ups with my lorna’s laces. And a navy pair with pink toes & heels (knit picks essentials). Beyond that, I wont be buying anymore sock yarn unless i absolutely love knitting socks. I think i’m giving it a fair try. So far I like the 2 circs much more than the dpn’s. Some of you will recall two years ago I knit past the heel on a dpn sock. It has been ripped out, the yarn is going to a friend, and I didn’t consider ever knitting socks again for a year and a half. Then it took me two years to actually do the knitting. so yeah. . .
and if i don’t like sock knitting. well. as my marsha said, they are only 2.99/pair at target

It had slipped behind the bed at moms. Wheeee & yay.
I decided to do a headband thing for myself, I’m trying to decide on a pattern now.

Yesterday afternoon we got out of here in kind of a hurry, long story that I don’t wish to get into right now. So I quickly packed up my new bag with knitting and yarn and off we went to moms house for the afternoon. Got to knit night. Knit a little on my socks - i’m doing the 2 socks on 2 circs with Regia Silk, for those of you who aren’t on Ravelry yet and can’t just view my projects - then I decided I wanted to cast on for something else. I very rarely sit and work on one thing all night. I like to have several projects going at once and switch them out. One of my big phrases as a teenager was ‘i’m bored’ I had a boyfriend who would want to go where ever and he knew if we stuck in one place too long he would hear it. ha. Unless i’m at home, i can always find something to do at home it seems. Anyway, back to the projects thing. So I go in my bag, where I thought I put my circular needle case with all my circs in it, and it wasn’t there. My guess is it fell out at moms house, and is under her bed or stuck in a corner somewhere. Because I was up in her room with a napping Aaralyn most of the afternoon. So I have several things I want to start. And can’t. We’re doing laundry right now, then we’re going to moms house early today (it is belly dancing night, so we have to go for alison to babysit the littles) so I can find it. And maybe i’ll cast on something or other. For now. It’s socks and laundry.
OH and we are having an extra knit night this week, as Jo from Celtic Memory Yarns will be here visiting Angela (I could link her site too, but i’m being lazy for a minute, maybe i’ll come back later)

I received a birthday box today, and since it came from one of my very best friends I couldn’t resist opening it right away. My birthday is on Monday, so I get to celebrate all weekend long. Ta da.
So inside I found. Yarn. malabrigo kettle dyed pure merino wool. worsted. emerald blue. www.malabrigoyarn.com & obligatory photo :
It will be something for me but what I don’t yet know. It is 216 yards, approx 3.5 ounces. If you have any ideas let me know, since I have none right now I need suggestions ; ) I found 2 hats that are cute, but someone on ravelry attempted one of them with this very yarn-twice- & it didn’t come out well (it calls for a sport weight), so I’ll likely go with the other.
Along with the yarn was a *gorgeous* circular needle case handmade in Nepal (www.frabjousfibers.com) I use circs pretty much exclusively these days, my marsha knows this. Photo:
She also got me Dr Pepper lipsmackers & a jake-original homemade birthday card that brought me to tears. Lovelovelove I miss you guys like crazy.
OH One last thing, a photo of the finishing needed only hip skirt i’ve been working on
I’m having image issues, no access to my PSP since my Pc is dead. I’ll get em fixed when I can… For now click the thumbnails to see full sized images in a new window

Yes, I will share what I did for the crown asap - I have to find the notebook with my notes in it.
I got in to Ravelry, I am knitalicious if anyone wants to find me there. I don’t much like flickr, so i’m taking it slow for now. I’ve put in some completed projects and a few queue items and added friends.
Still working on the kimono, so much for mailing it by today. Saturday. At the latest. No more playing online, must knit kimono! And practice snake arms. Ta da.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one. Lets see. The crowns are fast & fun. I knit 3. I was sent photos of my nephew in his, he is SO darn cute!
I have another FO. I recently started a bellydancing class & decided a knit hip skirt would be something fun. I choose a ribbon yarn, and since I wasn’t sure how much I would need I bought 4 skeins (is it a skein when its wrapped around a cardboard thing? or does it have another name?) anyway, I only used one and a half. It’s a triangle, I got a strip of bells from Big Lots which I am sewing onto the top, and I am doing a fringe with beads on the bottom.
I’ve been working on the kimono too, I should have been doing ONLY the kimono, as today is babys due date. But it is getting there, i’ll probably watch a movie tonight (my new netflix should be in the mail today) and knit through it. I just finished the first arm decreases, so I should be finished with that side after a couple hours of straight knitting. If I can get a couple hours of straight knitting.
I knit at the parade yesterday a little bit, I couldn’t help it, I like having something to do and the baby allowed me to set her down for a little bit. And I thought, the SOW’s should totally do a float in next years parade, and we can all sit and knit while people watch us. Yeah! I’m a dork.
I guess that is all that is in progress. OH no I also have a little hat, but it requires a tiny bit of thought still because I don’t quite have the pattern down yet. The kimono is my only mindless, and its only half mindless with the increases and decreases and stuff. haha.

There is a new contest over at Skeins Her Way. All you have to do is leave a comment with when you learned to knit.
That brought me back, to five and a half years ago (well February 2002, not quite a whole half) my dad took me to MJDesigns, someone watched the boys for me (my sister I assume) and I bought a how to knit book, two skeins of redheart kids, and some knitting needles. I went home and I figured it out. I purled wrong (which was later discovered to be the books fault) but corrected that when I purchased the knitting and crochet for dummies book. My first finished projects were a scarf for my sons dog, a grannys favorite dishcloth, and a couple of ‘oopsies’ that helped me learn about gauge the hands on way *G*
Also? I think it is so cool the winner will be drawn on my birthday. Yup it’s my birth month. I love July.
