When I was in choir at LHS I remember singing the song Hats Are made for your head. dadadadadadadadadadadadada. You get the idea. Anyway. I like to knit hats, they are hands down my favorite thing to knit. Quick, easy, keep little heads and ears warm.

Yesterday I completed the blue hat I was knitting. Knit picks main line (we live in Tx, a cotton/wool blend will be just fine). It does not fit my youngest sons head. Thinking i’m in denial about the size of my boy. He is growing up. So the decision was very quickly made to give this one to my friends son, knit a pink one for his brand new baby sister (who is just so beautiful and i can not wait to meet her / hold her). And then knit the four for my children. I ordered plenty enough yarn to do six hats (6 skeins of blue, 3 skeins of the pink - actual color names are blueberry and antique rose).

The hat I did knit, by the way, fits my daughter just fine. It is a toddler size hat for sure. I c/o 69 stitches. For the baby hat I just c/o 56 and started knitting around. For the boys I think i’ll try 85, see who that fits best, and go from there up or down for the other two.  These are basic roll brim hats, no pattern necessary just a little recipe that is stuck in my head.

Today I started the hat for Lochlan - I already have 3 inches knit. And I started the poncho for aaralyn - it is the simple one where you knit two rectangles and sew them together.

#1 knit night rocks. i may be the quietest in the group, but i just love the women i knit with. i can’t wait for them to see ari walking this tuesday - i may even have a couple of the boys with me this tuesday for a bit, because i think cubscouts starts up again.

#2 i finished conor’s sweater! it looks great. pictures soon. and it’ll be in the mail soon too!

#3 i also finished up a gift for my friends brand new baby girl, born thursday. shes a doll, i can’t wait to meet her. i knit a little skirt for her, but i don’t know if it will work size wise. i really want to figure out how to knit it again and size it properly this time because it is very cute.

#4 so thats two things off the needles. i’m still working on that dishcloth, its very much a busy work thing, i don’t do much on it or very often, just taking my time.

#5 whats next? well. hats. for the four children. i have knit picks main line blueberry for the boys and antique rose for aaralyn. no pattern, as is usual for me with hats. i guess its kinda a pattern - in my head   and i may also start the little poncho for aaralyn.

Tonight I went to knit night without the baby for the first time since she was born. She will be ten months on Sunday. It was sooo nice to be able to just sit and knit, no getting up, no worrying about what she was doing. I think now that she is so mobile taking her to that particular starbucks isn’t going to be so easy, the other one is larger and I can let her on the floor in the center of our circle.

Tonight I knit on my nephews sweater, it is coming along. My plan is to have it done by next Tuesday to show off, and in the mail the next day. I said that last week though, so hey someone bug me about this ! Tommorow I’ll be spending time with a friend who also knits, and we always end up knitting together, so I’ll likely work on it then !

There is something new in my "projects to knit" bookmarks. It is the kiddie capelet on knittingforboozehags.com freebirds section. SO cute, and takes just 3 skeins of the S&C yarn (99 cents at hobby lobby this week!)

My latest fun knit for when I need a short break from whatever my next project is - this is what I was referring to that I attempted to start in the middle of the night last week, I ended up pulling that out and starting over the next day and it went MUCH better. It is a fun and easy knit. The red and white is for my kitchen, but I am wanting to do some for the boys bathroom next in different blues with matching towels (check out the knit-a-long if you haven’t seen the matching towels!)

I am just about done with the gift for my friend’s daughter, just waiting on her to be born now ! I have a bit of yarn left, and am considering doing one more thing to go with the rest of the gift. We’ll see if I have time and if I can figure out exactly how to do what i’m thinking.

And tonight I received yarn I bought with my birthday money! Yeah! It is Knit picks Main line in antique rose and blueberry. It was purchased with the thought of "this will make perfect hats for the kids!" in mind. That is something they ask for but I had not yet found just the right yarn. So i’ll have to get started on those, luckily this is TX and we likely won’t need them until, oh, December or maybe not even until January!

Do not attempt new pattern in the middle of the night, no matter how easy it is, you will get frustrated and find a way to mess it up somehow.

Tuesday night = Knit Night = Tons of fun. big group, lots of yarn and projects to oooh and ahhh over. I worked a little on my nephews sweater (expecting to finish it this week, we’ll see) and sewed up a bootie.

On our road trip - my husband did most of the driving, as usual, so I had plenty of car knitting time. I knit the above mentioned booties, and a matching hat. I need to do a bib. This is part of a gift for a very special baby, who is still in-womb.

On the way from knit picks is some yarn that I think might be what I use for the kids hats. I have promised these hats but finding just the right yarn hasn’t happened yet. We’ll see if this one works !
