I am thinking… I should get on with the housework & school

Mondays are just like that ;)   Boys are choosing a landmark & place to do a Geography project on, that should be fun!

From the kitchen… leftover lunch, meatloaf (w/ bacon!) for supper. Ripe bananas for baking banana muffins.

I am wearing… PJs and a sweatshirt, I need to shower & dress after lunch ;)

I am creating… Finished the January UFO last night, It is way cute.

I am going… to visit the new kittens at nana’s house, and possibly will stop by to see everyone at knit night tonight.

I am reading… Choral Society by Prue Leith

I am hoping… this week is nice and easy on the school front

I am hearing… Dora

Around the house… Kids are on their "break" from schoolwork & I am taking advantage of it for a few minutes email & blog updating.

UFO Update [on the needles] — Aishy @ 4:08 pm

So it is only January but i’m doing good on my UFO a month for this month. I am on sleeve #2 of a sweet baby kimono that I started last year and then set aside for no reason at all. It is absolutely adorable and I am fascinated with the top down process of creating a garment with no seams. There is no recipient for this particular item (mostly because the baby it was originally intended for is much too big now), and I am looking forward to starting my "Baby Gift" Stash finally. I do love knitting for babies, it’s my favorite!!! Well, after hats.

I did start and finish one other item this month. Angeluna brought a half skein of Patons SWS in a pinkish colorway so I knit ms. Aaralyn some fingerless mitts. I wove in the ends last night. Now we just need the weather to get cool again.  You know it’ll happen. It’s Texas, we have false spring every winter ;)

FOR TODAY January 18, 2010

Outside my window… beautiful day

I am thinking… the house is a wreck and I am overwhelmed and want to bury myself in library books

I am thankful for… library books !

From the learning rooms… Slow & easy, working through the boxes at a slow rate, didn’t even do our morning basket time yet - I suppose it’ll be "late afternoon basket" instead. Maybe we’ll do it over the pancake & eggs supper I have planned to cook.

From the kitchen… leftover fried chicken from yesterday for lunch, muffin tin lunch for the smallest ones, pancakes & eggs for supper

I am wearing… comfy pants & a Canada tshirt  - lounge around the house clothes!

I am creating… nada but knit night tonight, so some kind of creating will happen

I am going… to knit & to grocery shop

I am reading… Just Breathe by Susan Wiggs

I am hoping… all the school gets done today and I don’t have to adjust the weeks lesson plans much for thngs we don’t get to spill over to tomorrow.

I am hearing… PBS Kids

Around the house… Legos with occasional school breaks ;) The opposite of usual, but hey public school kids were out today.

FOR TODAY January 11, 2010

Outside my window… still cold, but warmer than it was over the weekend

I am thinking… that bean soup smells GOOOD

I am thankful for… happy, healthy children

From the learning rooms… Back to school today! Went okay, not as smoothly as I would have hoped but hey. That is what breaks are for, sometimes you have to let a child clear their head and get ready to learn and make that decision on their own. As long as it is done I’m happy. Today we started a Morning Basket and I think we’ll like that a lot. Boxes got done. Everyone is happy. Everything is ready for tomorrow.

From the kitchen… bean soup, thrown in the crockpot hastily around 12:30 because Aa and I decided that is what we wanted today. We have fritos & cheese to go with, and will likely make rice.  We also made CUPCAKES ! Today is Eleven and a Half years since my wedding day <3 Not that we needed a reason for cake, just that the kids enjoy having one so if I can come up with one I do.

I am wearing… my fave velour lounge pants & a sweatshirt

I am creating… not much today

I am going… to Craft Circle @ church. I look forward to this all month long.

I am reading… nothing

I am hoping… the soup tastes as good as it smells

I am hearing… Eye of the Tiger

Around the house… Rockband, legos.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Craft circle, knit night, no school for the Jbear because of a burst pipe & plenty of damage, oh my. He DOES however have at-home assignments.

Completed projects of 2009 [Since it doesn't belong anywhere else] — Aishy @ 3:12 am

So often things run together and I’m not sure what I knit this year or last. I should at least do month/year on the Rav project pages so I can pin point things a little bit, if I can’t manage to do the dates. So I’m going to attempt to list the projects completed in 2009 here.

1 Sock for Aaralyn

Two Dragons (knitting mostly happened in 08 I believe, but sewing up happened in 09)

The Pokehat

3 grey crowns (so far, with 3 more to knit)

mitts for my cousin’s little boy

a cupcake

I think the beer sweater was completed in January just in time for dad’s birthday.

a tiny turtle

headphone covers

Hug scarf

a pink crown

a tea cozy

the star crossed slouchy beret  for myself

2 hats - one for me & one for my husband

a tiny bird

a tiny TINY heart

a robot (sewn up out of squares knit years ago)

calorimetry for Dorothy

2 knit sabers

FINALLY FINISHED THAT BALLBAND DISHCLOTH

earflap hat for Tobias while in Ireland

A few coffee cozies? I think Aja’s was knit this year and so were Alanna’s and Alison’s. I need to do one for myself next !

2 bookmarks

The Baby Kimono! Finished except for the ties, but that’ll be done this afternoon (12/31)

I think I got everything that was 2009. Hoping to update this to at least 1 more crown (maybe 2) and the baby kimono to go with the hat mentioned above.

Christmas Knits Update [Since it doesn't belong anywhere else, Finally Finished] — Aishy @ 3:32 pm

Finished the two dragons, the pokehat, the Tea Cozy, The sweet little bird, the tiny heart, two hats (one for my husband, one for myself), a ballband dishcloth, and I sewed up some old squares into a little robot guy, who needs a name. Oh and of course there was the bookmarks. There wasn’t really a secret project, that was to throw off my sisters on the whole secret santa thing.

Knit gifts received - the best thing EVER, the gift of time - a friend "gifted" me with 5 toy finishings. I knit em, she sews em up. Yeah!!!! I love it (thank you!). And my MIL got me a gift certificate to a LYS. Someone gave me some yarn I <3 (Thank you!) I also had a swap yarn, but that was passed on to a friend who would enjoy the color more than I did - it was SO very soft but the color was just not me and I didn’t feel like playing with the dying thing. Plus I got the previously mentioned yarn on the same night and just felt like passing it on to MM was the thing to do.

I totally forgot to mention my other totally fave knit gift received (is it okay for the 3 gifts to be a three way tie?) and my books. The lovely Angela & Doreen made every one in the knitting group an awesome stitch/row counter. They put a LOT of time into these and it is one of the coolest things I’ve ever been given for sure. The books are Itty-bitty Toys & Fairy Tale Knits.

OH Knit gifts given, I had Alison for Secret Santa, so that was fun. She kept talking all month about how she didn’t have needles, didn’t have circs. I was able to get a hold of an interchangable kit for her for a nice price. And I purchased her a gorgeous sock yarn, Paca Peds Vampires Kiss. And some Twilight themed stitch markers ;)   I threw a Harry Potter book in there for good measure, to offset the whole twilight theme. hah.

We had a wonderful Christmas, it was definitely one of the best I’ve had. The snow made it all that much better. And I really enjoyed hosting my family here on Christmas day, even though it was kind of crazy & my brother drove me nuts!

December 13, 2009

hm [on the needles, Up next] — Aishy @ 8:19 am

My knitting for Christmas plans are probably a little over-my-head considering there are less than 2 weeks till Christmas and I have 5 kids, lots of cookies to bake, schooling to do, house to clean, two birthdays, family coming. etc.

Super secret gift I can’t mention

Bookmarks already knit just need to block at least 1 of em.

Finish sewing up the dragons

Tea cozy - almost done.

POkemon Hat

little hearts, possibly a little bird also*

finger puppets*

uhm is that it? yes. no. one more kinda secret thing*

*haven’t even started it yet

I should just go to bed. There is a football game tomorrow, which means plenty of knitting time.

FOR TODAY October 12, 2009

Outside my window… grey, wet, cold

I am thinking… I shouldn’t have assumed I was better and gone back to life full force so fast. We all know what happens to me when I do that. Relapse! ugh

I am thankful for… all the kids getting better.

From the learning rooms… planets explorations & facts, one by one. everything is slowed down and drug out so far this month, with all the illness we’ve passed around here. Moons and Muffins and MOoses for ms. Aa.

I am wearing… yoga pants, my 1998 Old Navy Fleece

I am creating… muffins for counting and talking about words that start wtih M.

I am going… to rest as much as possible today

I am reading… The Accidental Best Seller (a Novel)

I am hoping… we’re over the worst of this stuff and everyone gets completely better asap. (finding it ironic that the last daybook I did was the same week we started getting sick, and I was thankful for good health & hoping no one got sick).

I am hearing…Veggie Tales Silly Songs & Jacob Two Two - yes, two TVs going at once.

Around the house… kids are mesmerized by the television. feeling the cabin fever combo of the weather & the sickies.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Celebrating Aaralyn’s birthday tomorrow, not sure what all else is going on.
